What sizes are your Indian bedspreads and coverlets available in?

Saffron Marigold designer luxury cotton Indian bedspreads are available in two sizes, King and Twin.

King cotton Indian bedspreads and coverlets: Our King bedspreads and coverlets are generously sized at 90 inches long by 108 inches wide and will fit both Standard and Eastern King beds as well as California and Western King beds. The Standard King, which is also known as the Eastern King is 80 inches long by 76 inches wide. Our King Size 90x108 bed spread and coverlet will give you a 10 inch drop at the bottom of the bed and a 16 inch drop on either side of the bed. The second variation of the King Size bed is the California King, also know as Cal King or the Western King. It is 84 inches long and 72 inches wide. Hence it is 4 inches longer than the Standard/Eastern King but 4 inches narrower than the Standard/ Eastern King. In this case our 90 x 108 bedspread/ coverlet would give you a 6 inch drop at the bottom of the bed and an 18 inch drop on either side of the bed.

Twin cotton Indian bedspreads and coverlets: Our Twin cotton bedspreads are 90 inches long and 70 inches wide. The regular twin bed is 40 inches wide and 75 inches long. Our Indian bedspreads provide a substantial 15 inch drop over the sides of the bed and an adequate 15 inch drop over the bottom of the bed. Our bedspreads and coverlets may be used on extra large twin beds too. The extra large twin mattress is 5 inches longer than the regular twin, hence its overall dimensions are 40 inches wide and 80 inches long. In this case the bedspread or coverlet will provide a 10 inch drop over the bottom and a 15 inch drop over the sides of the bed.

What fabric do you use to make your luxury cotton indian bedspreads and coverlets?

Cotton used for soft home furnishing comes in various types of sheeting. 20's, 30's, 40's, and so on. Twenties cotton sheeting is the most economical fabric available. Most Indian bedspread stores sell this variety of cotton linen as it serves the purpose well. on the down side, it is rough to touch, rather heavy, and creases easily. Please keep in mind that for some block printed designs it make sense to use 20's sheeting, and there will be times when we at Saffron Marigold will decide to keep 20's sheeting cotton linen in our store. As a general rule, the higher the sheeting count, the finer and more expensive the cotton. Higher count cotton is typically used for garment and apparel manufacturing as it does not have the weight necessary for making hand block printed soft home furnishings.

Our current collection of Indian bedspreads and coverlets are printed on 100% soft thirties cotton sheeting. A wonderful, soft, superior cotton fabric, with the right amount of weight, softness and crease resistance to ensure durability and many years of soft breathable comfort.

How easy is it to wash, clean and maintain your Indian bedspreads and coverlets?

A hand printed bed spread or coverlet is easy to care for and should give you many years of pleasure as long as you follow our care instructions. However, do remember to treat these linens with care. Remember, the dyes are laid on the surface of the fabric by human hands and not stamped on by some fast and furious piece of machinery!

Our designer Bedspreads and coverlets must only be washed in cold water on the gentlest cycle that your washing machine allows. Use a gentle detergent preferably a brand like Woolite. Line drying works best, if you don’t have a clothesline dry the bedspread over the shower rod. However if this is inconvenient or the weather does not permit it, turn the bedspread so that the underside of the bedspread is on the outside so that it takes most of the dryer agitation and tumble dry on low. Please do NOT use fabric softeners or dryer sheets since they coat the fabric with a whitish residue that dulls the luminosity of the dyes.
