Ask the Designer: Coordinating Bedspreads

by Heidi on Oct 31, 12

One of our customers is updating a bedroom which has two full beds.  She wants bed linens that coordinate, but is leery of “matchy-matchy” for fear that the space will look like a hotel room.  Luckily, we have lots of wonderful options for duvets that coordinate beautifully!  The only difficulty will be in choosing from our 26 prints!

All of our Prints are Reversible!!

The simplest solution is found in our reversible duvet covers.  Each cotton duvet is hand printed with unique block print designs on front and back.  The patterns use the same palette, but incorporate distinct designs.  Using one side of the duvet on each respective bed would create a lively, cohesive look.  Here are just a few examples of our reversible duvets – take a look at the entire collection if you’d like to see more!

Or…Use Two Different, Interactive Prints in a Bedroom

Of course, another option is to choose two completely different prints, and to allow them to interact with each other in the space.  I’ve put together three pairs of duvets that work wonderfully together through color and motif.  Notice the similarities in pattern on the reverse sides…  this creates even more options for coordinating the bed linens. My math may be a bit off (hey – I’m an artist! :) )  but I think you can get 4 different combinations from each set of duvets!

Spice Route and Kilim Noir

Use this tribal pairing in a space that is rich and global.  Dark woods and organic colors work best along side.

Chasing Butterflies and Vanilla Glacé

This couple will make for a fresh, feminine space.  Combine them for a new twist on French country or shabby chic.

India Rose and Sultan’s Palace

This combination is sultry and exotic as well as bold and fun.  Use with dark natural woods for a global look, and with white or colored woods for a more modern sensibility.
