Bathroom curtains that go with farmhouse bathroom decor

Modern farmhouse style celebrates classic, gentle patterns and streamlined looks. The style is clean, fresh, and inviting. Our white valances are always on point in a farmhouse style bathroom. And while white bathroom curtains are popular here, so are shades of yellow and gray.

Bathroom window curtains for a beach themed bathroom

If you find yourself enamored by coastal style or simply long for an ocean-themed bathroom, then we have your windows covered! Hang blue valances at the window for a touch of the deep blue sea. Blue bathroom curtains are quintessential favorite in coastal bathroom designs, but feel free to incorporate other beachy shades (like sandy taupes and crisp whites).

Bathroom window treatments for a French country bathroom

Our purple valances recall the vast lavender field of Provence–a lovely addition to your French country decor. French country style also includes lots of blue and yellow; here, the options abound. We hope these bathrom window treatments have the j’en ai se quoi your French bath’s been missing!

Colorful valances in a Moroccan bathroom

Filled with color, pattern, and bohemian style, curtains help create atmosphere in a Moroccan style room. Our Persian printed red valances are a natural choice here, but curtains with Indian sari patterns or Casablanca-inspired prints work also provide that global, boho chic vibe.

Floral valances for country bathroom decor

Bold blossoms and delicate petals–floral patterns are right at home in country bathroom decor. Of course, the primitive star always finds its way into country style. And you can’t go wrong with a rustic red for a classic lodge look!

About block printing

We design our patterns in our Petaluma, California studio, and the prints are handcrafted at our artisan studio in Rajasthan, India–the heartland of Indian woodblock printing. When you purchase a Saffron Marigold product, you’re not only bringing home a piece of original handcrafted artwork, but you’re also keeping an artisan craft alive.

FAQs about bathroom curtains

What kind of curtains go in a bathroom?

Graceful valances and shorter bathroom window curtains are ideal for small and large bathrooms alike.

Cotton valances, cafe curtains, or a set that employs both (known collectively as curtain tiers) are all beautiful and practical bathroom window treatments. Valances can be used alone, with blinds, or even over short plantation shutters for a burst of color and pattern.

What length should bathroom curtains be?

Since valances are often used as decorative window toppers, they should be long enough to cover the window frame but not the window itself. Our window valances measure 17″ long, for reference.

If you’re using curtain tiers (or a bottom half cafe curtain), then you wil want the curtain to hit the sill or the bottom of the apron. Don’t let them hover a few inches above the sill–highwater curtains are not the look you’re going for! 🙂  For reference, our cafe curtains come in three lengths: 24″, 30″, and 36″.

How should I dress my small bathroom window?

A small bathroom window doesn’t allow for much natural light, so you’ll  want to maximize what you have! A window valance will allow for the most natural light while still serving as a decorative window treatment.

Our cotton curtains have wonderful light-filtering properties, so you could even use a cafe curtain with tiebacks for a charming small bathroom window treatment if that’s the look you love.

How do I hang bathroom curtains?

If you have a deep window, you might need to use a tension rod to hang a valance.  Otherwise, hang a curtain rod a few inches above the window frame to hang your bathroom window curtains. The idea is to cover the frame and block as little of the window as possible.

How do I make my bathroom window private?

Hanging bathroom window curtains ensures added privacy, but you can use a combination of bathroom window treatments for more protection from potentially prying eyes!

A simple and pretty way to make your bathroom window privacy is to use a valance along with a set of blinds or even half plantation shutters. For maximum privacy, hang a valance and a cafe curtain for a tiered window treatment.

Fabric shower or bath curtains in patterns matching your bathroom window curtains will help you pull the room together. Why not find a shower curtain to match your bathroom window treatments?
