A Moonlit Taj bath in jewel tones of lapis and emerald

by Kamini on Sep 18, 12

I’m starting off with an inspirational picture to get you to start thinking of a bath with our Moonlit Taj shower curtain. The beautiful Taj Mahal – the inspiration for this print – enveloped in morning mist against tranquil, calming waters.

Wouldn’t you love to have a bath as serene and peaceful as this and surround yourself with beauty and allure?

Moonlit Taj has a pattern of a graceful dance of scrolling lapis, turquoise and malachite vines set against a ground of milky white marble. It attempts to capture the luminous effect of moonlight falling on translucent white marble, encrusted with semi precious stones. If you have ever seen the Taj, you will realize how incredibly its beauty has been captured in this print.

Towels

Turquoise blue towels to add a jolt of stunning color to your bath? Or white towels to heighten the calming spa like ambience? Take your pick. If you like the global nature of peshtemals, then the blue ones from Etsy will really appeal to you. If on the other hand you like traditional fluffy terry towels, then you cannot go wrong with white. Accessorizing with white is a cinch!

And then a set of wash cloths, an absolute must in any bath, in varying shades of turquoise and white.

Accessories – mirrors, hampers and mats

For this print I am inclined to stay with accessories that are natural and organic. Muted colors in shades of white and cream that let the jewel tones of the print do all the talking and accentuate the “global-ness” and handmade quality of the print.

Pottery Barn’s wood mirror is so lovely it works with virtually any decor, but especially well for spaces where you are trying to bring in an exotic touch.

The laundry basket and vetiver mat from Connected Goods are both hand woven by village artisans, mostly women, in countries like Africa and Indonesia. Not only are these products gorgeous to look at, they are fully functional and it feels so good to use products that are helping support small communities!

Take a deep breath….aaahhh

And then the final touch – some candles, lotions and flowers to wake up and tease the senses, and perfume your retreat with heavenly fragrance!
