Memories of Shalimar is one of our most unique and glamorous prints. (Perhaps that’s why it’s a personal favorite…) Gilded Asian inspired patterns shimmer over a muted grass green ground. A duvet from this collection is perfect in a serene, earthy bedroom.
If you have a Memories of Shalimar duvet, or are thinking of purchasing one, today’s post will be of interest to you! We’ve sourced a wonderful, complementary collection of sheeting and pillows to round out your zen bedroom.
I’ve chosen sheeting in a range of natural hues, none of which will steal the show from Memories of Shalimar, but which instead will tease out tones from the variety of hand printed colors. Sandstone and Chocolate sheets from Olive and Myrtle are a sure bet if you want organic cotton of the finest quality. The lighter sheet creates a fresher look, the darker sheet – a warmer one.

Wamsutta is a trusted name in bedding, and if you prefer the smooth touch of a cotton sateen, then you’ll enjoy these bedsheets. Mirage is one of few blue sheets in this tone, and is a wonderful complement to the hints of blue in our duvet. The Honey selection plays nicely into the bright gold khadi paste edging on Memories of Shalimar. Both of these options are conveniently available at Bed, Bath & Beyond.
Pillows: Euro Shams, Traditional Shams and Accent Pillows
We talk a lot about the “rules” of layering Indian textiles. These are perhaps summarized as “the more, the merrier!” This comes into play in the variety of exotic, colorful throw pillows that one can arrange on her bed. We like to start with a layer of euro shams – the oversized, square pillows make a wonderful backdrop. Consider a matching print – we have euro shams available in Memories of Shalimar – or a solid complementary color, like the Dalyan Gold from Cherry Creek.
Now for the long, low layer of standard pillows. We offer a standard sham in Memories of Shalimar, and please note that all of the sheet sets mentioned above also come with standard shams. If, perhaps, you are interested in something different, I suggest the textured solid Loren Green from Crate and Barrel, or the Mosaic, also from Crate and Barrel.
Smaller accent pillows are a wonderful place to introduce a pop of bright color or an interesting shape. Many of our customers like the dramatic red of Spice Route as a coordinate with Memories of Shalimar bedding. (We learned this through a survey, by the way! 🙂 We really do listen to everything you tell us.)
I love Stretch and Cover’s round gold throw pillow cover. The gold is subtle, the texture is feminine but not overboard. It adds a perfect note to the Memories of Shalimar bed.

A Closer Look…
As always, if you are interested in something from the Memories of Shalimar collection, I recommend purchasing a swatch first. This ensures that you can see how the colors work in your space, and how you like the feel of the duvet.
Something to consider regarding this particular print is that it is dry clean only. The khadi paste (the traditional material with which we hand print the gold embellishments) will not take kindly to traditional washing, but is long lasting when cared for appropriately.
Hope this has helped you envision your Memories of Shalimar bedroom! Take a moment to fill out our brief survey – let us know which of these products you like best with our print! Thanks!
