Entertaining is always fun, but fall evening get togethers are the best! The coolness in the air is a perfect setting for hot soups and warm breads, cheese fondues, spiced ciders, mulled wine and baked apple pies!
Today, we’re entertaining with Saffron Marigold’s Ivy Lace table linens. With elegant scrolling ivy vines on an ivory ground, the napkins and tablecloth provide a perfect blank canvas for your fall decor! Use them with spicy reds, russets and golds to mirror the fall colors outside, or keep them understated and elegant with blacks, golds, browns and creams.
Tablewear
Whichever dinner plates you use, gold chargers from Pottery Barn will add that extra touch of glamour. Gold is a neutral and will work beautifully with most colored dinnerware. A perfect accessory for the Ivy Lace linens are these ivy leaf place card holders - again a bit of gilt to coordinate with the chargers.
Lighting
Richly dark wooden candle holders from Pottery Barn further enhance the warm tones at our table. Display them on the mantel or sideboard, or place on the table…either way the patina tones will complement our elegant whites. For added drama, place a few of these Hakkari Hurricane candleholders from Crate and Barrel here and there….the light reflecting off the gold plated interior will create a magical atmosphere.
Now if you’re the crafty DIY type, (which I am not), then this project is right up your alley and an absolutely perfect overhead lighting option. A tree branch chandelier made with Eucalyptus branches…oh how heavenly that must smell!!! They can be made with any found branches – read here for step-by-step instructions.
Centerpieces
Fall’s bounty is so gorgeous, not just in nature outside, but the plethora of fruits and vegetables harvested…bring them indoors as objects of beauty. Pomegranates and red pears, or dried flowers, gourds and branches in these oversized glass canisters will look stunning on a buffet.
Keeping in theme with the brown/gold play of colors we have going on, a floral centerpiece like the magnolia leaf tub below is so simple, but so incredibly effective. Oversized dried magnolia leaves in a galvanized bucket - here are instructions on how to create this in 60 seconds or less!!!!!
Furniture
A quick easy and rather inexpensive makeover idea for fall is to slipcover your dining chairs. I may not be a crafty DIY-er, but this I can do. Pick up some lovely fall print fabrics to match your personal style, from any fabric store – the ones shown here are available at Pottery Barn - and follow these simple directions for an instant transformation. If that terrifies you, you can alternately buy them at Pottery Barn too!
Isn’t decorating for fall just so much fun? There’s just so much you can do with all those delicious colors that surround you. Make sure to explore the other linens within this Ivy Lace collection, the neutral palette offers endless Fall decor possibilities!
