Your dorm room is often your first home away from home, and in this series, we aim to show you that with just a few unique elements, you can really create a space of your own. I’ll refer you to a great little article from Apartment Therapy called 10 Ways to Make Your Dorm Room Feel Like Home. It’s full of lots of (well, 10) simple ideas for cozying up this institutional space.
One of their recommendations is to warm things up with linens. That’s where we come in! With lots of choices of unique, hand printed, cotton bedding and curtains, we’ve got all your boho-global-glam looks covered.

Today, we’re featuring the gorgeous, extra long Dance O Peacock twin duvet. This is an elegant, graphic, crisply colored cotton print sparkling with bright turquoise and cobalt, balanced by subtle sage and ochre. This print will appeal to the young woman who likes a clean, light look in her room. (Don’t forget that this is a reversible duvet – ready for a new look at a moment’s notice!)
Sheets
There are so many lovely colors in Dance O Peacock that you’re able to match quite a few fun bed sheets. I love the Boho Medallion set from PBTeen – the pattern and the colors are truly just right with Dance O Peacock. They create a bold burst of color under the white ground of the duvet.
If you’d like to stick with tailored and classic, use Trina Turk’s Palm Springs sheet in turquoise. Love, love, love the border detail. If you are fond of making your bed, and to like to line up everything just so – this one’s for you!
Pillows
Begin your throw pillow obsession young.
Start by collecting a couple, and build a colorful, snuggly pile atop your bed. If you like the hand printed, exotic look of Dance O Peacock, then add to your bed with a large euro sham in the same print. Grab a smaller hand printed white on white accent pillow in our Vanilla Glacé print to add a bit more subtle flair.
Mixing and matching throw pillows is such fun – consider adding a super soft chenille pillow in turquoise (below, from Urban Outfitters) and a set of unique LOVE pillows from Wake Up Frankie. I’m thinking you’re going to love your bed when it’s all said and done!
Curtains
Using sheer curtains in your dorm won’t keep the sun from peeping in and making sure you’re up for class, but they will surely break up the “putty” colored walls that seem to dominate every dorm in America. Consider our Dance O Peacock sheers if you’re using the reverse side of the duvet. If you’re using the primary side of Dance O Peacock, then add a matching beaded valance and white sheers, such as our Vanilla Glacé.
We are excited with all you who are heading off for college in the fall. Let us know which ideas you like best, and whether you use some in your dorm! (You know, we LOVE your pictures… check out our Pinterest board of customer pix…)
