Mysterious, exotic and stunningly unique, our handprinted Kilim Noir reversible duvet cover is just the thing for a bold bedroom that whispers of far away lands. An ochre motif, printed on a rich black ground is the centerpiece of this print, however the surprisingly bright border in gold, tangerine and cerulean is absolutely eye catching as well. Today we’ll create bedding looks for Kilim Noir, covering four sheeting options and several throw pillow ideas for this print, each of which will play with the global palette of our print.
Sheeting for Kilim Noir
A creamy white zigs and zags across the reverse side of this regal duvet, and is seen in the border as well. To pull out this tone, and for the most subtle sheeting option, we suggest cream sheeting such as Pinzon Velvet Flannel Cotton Sheets (ahh!) available from Amazon. For a “wow” factor, choose Coyuchi’s organic jersey knit cotton sheets in tangerine. These will be impossibly cozy, and wonderfully rich in color.
Also from Coyuchi (can you tell it’s a favorite? 🙂 ) we suggest a set of sheets and pillowcases in cerulean. This will pick up the hint of azure in the Kilim Noir duvet, and contrast wonderfully with the duvet’s gold and black. I love the thought of this pillowcase peeking out from above the duvet! For a particularly strong and masculine look, use solid black cotton sheets such as this set from Linens-n-Things. Black sheets will melt into the midnight and mystery of Kilim Noir, and act as an interesting neutral.
Exotic Bedding Looks
We know that many people feel the bed isn’t complete until it is accented with an assortment of complementary pillows. To help you find just the right pillows for your Kilim Noir Bedding, we’ll point you to some Saffron Marigold prints that work well with it, styled in two unique ways, Exotically Simple, and Exotically Ornate.
Exotically Simple: Pillow Shams and an Accent Pillow
All of the sheeting sets above come with shams, however, if you have a few extra pillows and wanted to do something a little more, you can consider adding a patterned or a solid sham. Featured below are three prints which will work well with Kilim Noir. Tropical Garden will play with the bold red-orange in Kilim Noir’s border, and add an organic note to this geometric print. Using matching Kilim Noir shams will create the boldest look, with a visual focus on the strong black ground and golden motifs. Indian Summer shams will mellow the look of your bedroom, tying into the gold in Kilim Noir without competing.
For our Exotically Simple look, we like one central accent pillow that unites the pillow shams and the bedspread. Have fun with these!
For a simple look we recommend…
A Kilim Noir duvet, Tangerine sheets and pillow cases, Two Kilim Noir shams, and One Spice Route (c) accent pillow
Exotically Ornate: Add Euro Shams, and a Boudoir Pillow
Euro Shams add height and volume to a bed. Two or three in the same print create a luxurious bed that is sure to stun. Line the back of your bed with Euros, then layer pillow shams, accent pillows and boudoirs in front! Use several coordinating boudoir pillows, or choose vibrantly different prints! These little beauties are small, and will shine like gems scattered across your bed.
For an Ornate Look We Recommend…
A Kilim Noir Duvet, Two Spice Route euro shams, Tangerine sheets and pillowcases, Two Kilim Noir shams, Two Spice Route (c) accent pillows, One Tropical Garden boudoir pillow
Introduce our handprinted Kilim Noir to your bedroom, combine it with anyone of these sheeting sets and pillows, and your bedroom is sure to become the place of your dreams.
Here are a few more ideas we saw while shopping around…
If you want a bit of tone, but not too much pattern, consider one of these more neutral pillows. (Yes, I know the first pillow isn’t neutral, but it matches the pattern so nicely, I had to include it! )
Father’s Day Gift Add On
If you’re shopping for Father’s Day, consider the casual, timeless luxury of leather slippers for Dad. A pair of these beside the bed might make leaving Kilim Noir a little easier in the morning!
