Coordinating Bedding for Spice Route

Saffron Marigold - Updated: August 4, 2014

Week after week, Spice Route, with its rich, sumptuous, exotic colors is our top seller. Harkening back to the days of camels roaming the desert, and tantalizing mysterious bazaars, the Spice Route pattern has colors of turmeric and turquoise contained within bold, brazen motifs on a deep red paprika ground.

Use the bold colors of the Spice Route duvet to  introduce a warm vibe into the bedroom. Go simple or go ornate by mixing and matching with other Saffron Marigold linens- either way your bedroom will be a hideaway of exotic travel and adventure.

Sheeting ideas:

Sheets in tones of reds and oranges, will not only add warmth but will amplify the exotic, global appeal of the print. Reds will accent the deep red background of the print, while the tangerine sheets in a deep shade of turmeric yellow will add a soft glow. So if you’re looking to turn up the warmth factor in the bedroom, pick one of these colors. If a cooler, lighter summer feel is what you are striving for, then the gold/tan sheets will be perfect, in addition to being versatile enough to use with other prints.

Global bedding looks:

Of course no bed is really complete without coordinating pillow shams and accent pillows and how you dress up the bed could be as personal a choice as how you take your coffee 🙂

It can be simple, clean and sophisticated with a just a couple of shams and accent pillows. Or you can layer it with euro, pillow, accent and boudoir shams for a truly glamorous look.

Either way we have you covered.

The Simple look with pillow shams and accent pillows

Your sheets will likely come with coordinating pillow cases. But adding pillow shams is a great way to dress up the bed.

While the Spice Route print and the complimentary print are obviously great choices, do consider Indian Summer too. The print will coordinate perfectly with the orange sheets – my personal preference –  if you decide to go with that. Pillow shams as a rule, are placed in front of the pillow cases.

Accent pillows do just that – they “accent” the bed. They are there to toss on the bed and play with and the more the merrier! Here is where you have a little more freedom in terms of color. Consider  Casablanca Blues or Jeweled Peacock to highlight the turquoise flecks in Spice Route. Or if you are really in love with Spice Route, pick the boldly chevron-ed complimentary print accent pillow! Place them right up in front of the pillow shams.

The ornate look – add on euro and boudoir shams

If you’re looking for a little more style and glamour, add a layer of euro shams against the headboard and behind the shams, and then a couple of fun, flirty boudoir shams up in front of the accent pillows.

But unlike accent pillows which can be in assorted prints, euro shams are the most effective when they all have the same print. Boudoir shams are like the sprinkles on a cake. They’re festive, quirky and fun and can highlight little daubs of color on the print.

Spice Route’s euro sham makes a big, bold statement and creates quite an impact. Casablanca may be white and blue, but will be a fresh cheery addition to the earthy reds and oranges. An Indian Summer boudoir sham resonates with similar warm hues of Spice Route but has gorgeous rose kissed paisleys . And for a really unexpected twist, try Ruby Kilim euros and boudoir shams – colorful, bold and Bohemian!

As with anything, whenever you are trying to match a color precisely, getting a swatch is a good idea. Request a Spice Route swatch, and use that to pick your perfect sheet set. It will make the job super easy.

  1. This is a great idea. How about doing the same for towels to go with the various shower curtains. I’m looking for some to go with my recently purchased Spice Route curtain which I love, by the way. Thanks.

    • Ellen, glad you like this idea. And regarding your suggestion, you read our minds…we do plan on a similar series with towels and shower curtains! Kamini
