Love the pieces themselves -- the packaging etc was exquisite also. Gorgeous homemade paper for the bill enclosure. I lived in India for 7 months between 1999-2000. now....thus the slight delay in responding.
We really like the pieces...it was what we expected.
If I may be so humble to make just a few suggestions:
1) Due to the dying/stamping process there is a very strong "chemical
type" smell to the cloth.
We removed everything from the plastic bags and opened up the pieces to
air. Hopefully the smell will dissipate over time. Solution suggestion
from me: Would it be possible to wash the fabric before sewing and
assembling it?
Also as the instructions on the quilt say "Dry Clean Only" - I still intend
to wash it in cold water /gentle cycle/ vinegar added with gentle soap -
but only after a bit of wear on the bed. So until such time, I hope the
chemical smell will fade.
2) I see that the hand stitching in certain areas (on the wrong side it is
more obvious) looks very frail.
Solution suggestion from me: Could the stitching be a bit more hardier with
secure beginnings and endings of the thread. I am sure this would prevent
any unraveling of the continuous stitching.
Your customers I am sure would be most appreciative as to dry-clean a K/S
quilt can cost quite a bit of $$ and to be honest ...I don't think I'd want
to trust this to a dry-cleaner. I hope to have many years of usage from
this quilt set and I want to know that it will withstand normal cleaning
methods.
I know that once we have this unique set on our bed - we will be the envy
of all who see it.
I'm not too good at sending photos via email...but I will give it a go when
all is in place.
You put so much work and good will into your shop - it literally jumps off
the computer screen. Good for you...wish there were more merchants with
such high standards.
