We’re throwing a colorful, lush, lavish, opulent print – our Sultan’s Palace - into the Summer Series hat today! After all it is cocooned in linens like these that the Sultans of Arabia spent their summers…..lazing on their couches imbibing wine, partaking in huge banquets and hunting…think Alhambra here!
And as much as summer is all about cool whites and serene blues, its also about joyous, bright, vibrant prints – and so today we are creating a bedroom around Sultan’s Palace using their duvets, bedspreads, pillows and shams!
Pillows and shams
If you really want to do things like the Sultans did (well, maybe not the Sultans themselves, but of their hundred attendants)…be sure to surround yourself with lavish colorful pillows in silk and satin. Etsy has a vivid array in luxe fabrics. Also be sure to add in a couple of coordinating Sultan’s Palace throws as well. Mix and match – that’s the key!
An old dresser can get a new look to go with this print – just add a couple of these fun doorknobs. Its an easy quick way to update an old dresser! How about a row of hand made glass bottles lined up on the window sill? Or your dresser? Or even grouped together on the nightstand? Described as “decorative jars with over-sized stoppers and a modernist feel they are available in a variety of colors and shapes and look beautiful as individual pieces or in combinations of three or more. When arranged in groupings, the juxtaposition of hue, form and scale create a dynamic visual statement in any setting”.
Sounds good to me
Furniture and lighting
A pouf! You’ve got to have a pouf! These great little pieces are very versatile – they can be used as an ottoman to set things upon, and also work great as extra seating. And if there is that one accessory that says “Morocco” loud and clear, its the pouf! If you need extra lighting then take a look at this unique table lamp made with turquoise capiz shell flower petals which are outlined in gold. For something more affordable but equally effective Viva Terra’s Moroccan lantern will create a soothing envelope of soft textured ambient light wherever it hangs.
And then finally, one piece to tie it all together – this eye catching photographic print titled, “Brightly Dyed Wool Hanging Over Bicycle, Marrakech”. Something so mundane captured so eloquently in a photograph!! I love it.
Curious to see what it all looks like?
I’ll let you drool over this, while I daydream about attendants waiting hand and foot on me!
