Red, black and cream table linens for an exotic food gathering

by Kamini on Sep 6, 12

We’ve been talking a lot  about our Ruby Kilim linens lately. There was this post that gave you ideas on a Ruby Kilim bath, then this post discussed using our Ruby Kilim curtains for your living room,  and then this post on using the duvet for your bedroom.

Today, we’re bringing you ideas on a Turkish inspired Ruby Kilim table setting. Its a great fall print with its deep red hues, as well as a wonderfully festive holiday print. So whether it is a “lets have a party” party, or  a Thanksgiving family lunch, or even a Christmas dinner…..this gorgeous print will be the perfect backdrop for a food-centric gathering!

Dinnerware, serveware, glassware:

Ruby Kilim has some wonderful cream tones in it, and rather than accentuate the red, I believe highlighting the cream/tan tones will be the best way to go. This cream stoneware dinner set from Crate and Barrel is elegant yet has an earthy feel. The metal like detailig at the rims adds a touch of warmth.

Dessert anyone? Serve it up in this wood pedestal stand perfect for any kind of dessert from cakes to cookies to pastries (baklava recipe follows below :-) )

And lets not forget some glassware. Bring in a bit of the modern vibe with these unusual glasses from Gretel Home.

Still playing on the cream and black colors, as opposed to the red, are all of the accessories shown here. The abaca placemats in espresso or natural, the slate coasters in grey/black and the Tava napkin rings in espresso or honey stain all reflect the same organic vibe and bring to attention the cream and grey colors of the print.

Accessories

With the plethora of global shops online its so easy these days to source beautiful hand made global artifacts. Exotic, ethnic accessories have become so mainstream even stores like Pottery Barn have beautiful pieces to match virtually any and every decor style, like these hand painted vases with intricate patterns of Turkish Iznik tiles.

And then there is Etsy – our global market place! This vintage copper pitcher is definitely a “splurge item” but oh – what an amazing impact it will have. At a generous 16″ tall it will carry the Ruby Kilim table linens to dizzying heights!

Sensory delights

Want to tingle the taste buds of your guests? Then add a little bit of Turkish cuisine to your menu. Kebabs to spice up the palate, stuffed eggplants drizzled in olive oil, or the ever popular baklava dessert – take your pick. I’d do all three…..
