Heading out for college is a lot about new-found freedoms, but sometimes the size of your dorm room (crawl space) may indicate otherwise. Small spaces don’t have to be inhibiting, though. With simple decor choices, you can create a space that feels calm, welcoming, and allows your imagination all the freedom it desires.
I’ve chosen our 100% cotton, hand-dyed and printed Pacific Blue duvet for your dorm today. It speaks of distant lands, endless oceans and sweet dreams.

Just like all of our artisan made duvets, this is reversible, and offers a wonderful nautical print opposite the primary print. Did I mention that this duvet is extra long? It will work well with the long bunks and beds often found in dorm rooms.
Sheeting
In a small space, and with limited time for laundry, you’ll probably only want or need two sets of sheets. I’m showcasing a bright option – the red from Target, and a muted option in herringbone – also from Target. This way, you can have two rather different looks peeking out from your duvet, all with a quick change of sheets.
Throw Pillows
I have to say, there are lots of wonderful, quirky, nautically themed pillows out there. You’re sure to find something you’ll love. To begin with, plop an oversized euro sham on your bed – a matching Pacific Blue sham would be wonderful. Top it off with a scattering of bright and oceanic pieces… the Coast Guard pillow is my favorite. Love it!
Curtains
Finally, you might want to consider a window panel or a valance at your dorm window. These are sheer, but will provide a bit of privacy, and a lot of style. A valance above existing “dorm standard” window treatments will add a little personality to the space.
Put the Look Together…
All together, this look is bright, bold, graphic and simple. Suited for young men or women, Pacific Blue will add style to any space, large or dorm-room-small.
