If you’re looking for bedding that will transition beautifully from the hot, sultry months of summer to the crisp cool days of autumn, you’ll fall in love with our sari-inspired Indian Summer duvet. Pair the luscious mango and melon print with light and bright sheeting and you’ve created a perfect summer look. Go with richer, muted tones to take Indian Summer into the fall. In either season, the soft 100% cotton with feel amazing against your skin. In the summer, use the reversible duvet without a comforter, as a light bedspread. Then, as it gets cooler, add your duvet!
Sheeting
Summer
Conveniently, today, all of my Indian Summer sheeting recommendations come from Bed, Bath & Beyond! Use bright Brick to pull out the rich melon tones. Lovely pale green Cedar creates soft contrast. I would keep both sets on hand for beautiful summer variety.
Fall
In Autumn, switch to deeper, soothing tones that invite snuggly slumber. Chocolate sheets have really become a new classic. They work with such an array of colors and pattern, not the least of which is our Indian Summer. For a unique complementary look, choose a set of sheets in Rust. Without being too “matchy-matchy”, these sheets will let your hand printed duvet shine.
Pillows: Euro Shams, Standard Shams and Accent Pillows
Euro Shams
Pillows are such a fun way to add texture, depth and pops of color to your bed. Large, square euro shams are the best way to add a layer of height along the headboard. Wouldn’t a row with a mix and match of our Indian Summer Euro Sham and Stretch and Cover’s Orange Ocean shams be great? Fill the covers with down inserts for super-soft bedtime beauty.
Standard Shams
All of the sheet sets we looked at above come with standard shams, but sometimes, people like to have extra “sleeping” pillows on the bed, and so need a couple extra sets of cases. I love Olive and Myrtle‘s organic cotton wares, and these flanged chocolate (again with the chocolate!) pillow cases will look great on your Indian Summer bed. We offer a gorgeous coordinating standard sham that I think you’ll really like as well. The pattern is different than that of the duvet, and makes a nice contrast.
Accent Pillows
Smaller accent pillows allow us to bring in bold contrast and bright pops of color to our bed. I love green with Indian Summer, and I adore our Memories of Shalimar print… together, these create a wonderful sense of sultry-lush-tropical beauty.
I would use one or two green Memories of Shalimar accent pillows along with a bold Contemporary Rust pillow, again from Stretch and Cover. This ties the accent pillow layer back into the ripe melon palette of Indian Summer.
A Closer Look
If you think you’d like to put together an Indian Summer bedroom, why not buy a swatch first? You’ll be able to get your hands on the wonderfully soft cotton fabric and match the vibrant colors to sheets and pillows. The swatches are large enough that you can really get a feel for how the fabric will work in your space.
