Red Poppy Queen Duvet Cover from Saffron Marigold
The Red Poppy duvet from Saffron Marigold consists of red poppies patterned against a pale cream background. When I first saw this fabric, I was reminded of the floral patterns carved onto marble screens or jalis at the Taj Mahal in India.
The Red Poppy is an extremely popular line of fabric because of its simple elegance and the ease with which it can be used in rooms of different styles. When choosing a bedskirt for this print, you may choose solid colors in cream, red or olive green.

1. Cream bedskirts: Bedskirts that echo the cream background of the Red Poppy will work well with the fabric and create an airy and light room. Cream-colored linen bedskirts will also add a bohemian chic vibe.
2. Red bedskirts: These are perfect to add drama to the bedroom. Solid red bedskirts will provide contrast and a bright pop of color. This one from Sears will coordinate beautifully.
{And on a side note: For some added effect, consider using a red upholstered headboard like in the pictures below with the matching red bedskirt for an ultra retro vibe}.
3. Green bedskirts: And if you would rather play up the green of the pattern, then I suggest going with an understated sage green or olive green, rather than a dark green which would just be too distracting. This one from Target would not only highlight the green of the pattern, it would add a jolt of color as well.
Have any other suggestions for bedskirts? We would love to hear from you! In our next post in the series we will discuss neutral, orange and custom made bedskirts for the lovely Spice Route duvet.

Do you have any other suggestions for red bed shirts to go with the Red Poppy Duvet cover? The one listed is no longer available from Bed Bath and Beyond. Skirts that I have found so far are either too bright red or too burgundy.
Martha,
Let me look into this and get back to you with some suggestions. Should be by the end of the week.

Martha,
Why don’t you check out the Marrikas Egyptian Cotton bedskirt from Sears? (It’s now replaced the Bed, Bath and Beyond skirt in our post). If you have a swatch of the Red Poppy fabric, just take it along with you when you shop. That’s honestly the best way to get a good match. While you’re right that you don’t want to swing too burgundy nor too cherry, when you see the bedskirt and duvet together in your bedroom as a whole, there’s a certain amount of fudging with the tones that can work.
Please let me know if you need any more input, and thanks for the heads up about the unavailable bedskirt!
