As much we we would all love to live by the ocean and feel the warm salty sea breeze on our skin when we step out the front door – let’s face it – it’s a fantasy! That’s when you do the next best thing. Surround yourself with Ocean Breezes linens – a Moroccan tile inspired print in sea blue, sandy brown and seashell ivory! I’m almost certain when your head hits the pillow sham, you hear the ocean.
But today, we’re talking Ocean Breezes table linens – the tablecloth, the coordinating runner and the napkins.
I’ve sourced accessories that will enhance the nautical appeal, but in a muted understated way, so that they work equally well with any of our other ivory blue hued prints.
Serving ware and glassware:
Is it a wooden boat? Is it serving ware? Its both. Inspired by the master boat builders of Scandinavia, West Elm’s carved serveware will absolutely set the stage. Blue and amber dimpled glassware will coordinate well with the colors on the print.
Napkins, rings and coasters:
Ocean Breezes napkins will be the ideal napkins, but if solid color napkins are what you are looking for, the blue or white work equally well. And like any solid color napkins they have the advantage of coordinating with more than one print.
Napkin rings made of sisal rope, a clam shell and a freshwater pearl attached with a silver head pin and inserted into a ring. So fresh your guests will think you picked them right off the beach. I love these nautical coasters. What fun conversation pieces they would be during dinner, and will inspire stories and anecdotes of travel and trips. And…for you talented DIY-ers, how about these easy to make rope coasters. Trust me when I say its easy!
Lighting:
Speaking of conversation pieces – here’s another one! These wicker hanging pendant lamps with natural plant fibers woven around a wire frames are organic, coastal and biotic all at once. A less expensive option but as effective is the round rope lamp adding a bit of a seaside charm to your decor.
Wall decor:
Get one, get two or if you really want to bring in the ocean, get three…of these weathered painted oars. And again, depending on how much of a nautical impact you want, you could position them horizontally, vertically, stack them in a corner…the choices are endless. Ready for another DIY? Then do check out this seashell art DIY.
Centerpieces:
Less is more is the key here. A tall glass vase filled with water, large pebbles stacked at the bottom, flowers placed on top and a floating candle….all elements of the beach in a gorgeous centerpiece. Or another simple solution….wrap thick rope around a glass vase!!
A coastal collage:
See how easy it is to bring elements of the ocean into your home? Rocks, pebbles, rope, water, wood, shells…and items in colors of blue, brown and ivory will do the trick!
