The Romantic Bedroom… some days this seems like a dream. (Those are the days when the bedroom is taken over as “laundry folding area”, “convenient place to pile books”, or “the room where children are strangely drawn to play with Hot Wheels”.) Today, we’re taking the bedroom back with our romantic Valentine’s Day ideas.
1. Reclaim the Bedroom with a New Look
We’ll build the boudior around our “Paisley au Lait” collection of bedding. (Both duvet and pillow sham are shown above.) The crisp, modern black and white print on soft, 100% cotton signifies a new beginning, and is a perfect foundation for Valentine’s Day pinks and reds. Let your lover know that the bedroom is all about romance tonight!
2. Write a love letter (and tuck it under his pillow)
Does this seem like a daunting task? Do it anyways! Nothing can be more special on Valentine’s Day (or any day) than a personal note from you. Here are a few tips to get the creative juices flowing:
- Think about the things you’d miss most about your sweetie if he were apart from you. Tell him you appreciate these things.
- Reflect on the ways he has grown and changed since you met him. Let him know you’ve noticed.
- Be sincere, and be you. You are loved because you are unique… what you have to say is always so much better than what Hallmark has to say.
3. Light Some Candles
Almost nothing says “I’m creating a mood, here, baby.” like this. Be liberal with your lighting! (Just remember to blow them out before bedtime!) Here is an interesting tutorial on making your own aromatherapy candles. I think you may still have time before Valentine’s Day!
4. Play Great Music
The music that you share, and that you’ve enjoyed together is a must, but trying something new can set the night apart. Putamayo is a wonderful resource for world music, and their love songs collection is a perfect idea for Valentine’s Day.
5. Give a Massage
The Body Shop carries a wide variety of fair trade supplied goodies, and their Sensual Massage Oil is particularly nice. A massage communicates “I care about you, I think you work hard, and I want to take the time to help you relax”. Our idea for a Valentine’s Day massage is more than just a quick shoulder rub… so here is a great resource for massage tips that will help you get to the next level of healing, loving touch.
A few words about our modern, black and white Paisley au Lait collection… This fabric, like all of Saffron Marigold’s, is pre-shrunk 100% cotton, so it’s soft, and washes well every time. All of our textiles are designed by Anisha Gosh, and then hand printed by artisans in India. We believe in fair trade, and use these principles in our business. When you buy from Saffron Marigold, you will only get the highest quality products, and the best, personal customer service.
We hope you’ll bring us into your home!
